The client is a veteran owned waste management business that provides ad-hoc services for non-hazardous and some forms of solid, hazardous, liquid, and inert waste in small to medium quantities, be they from public or commercial sources, with the aim of diverting

waste from landfill and maximising the sustainability credentials of all waste streams we carry.

 

The client employs predominantly service leavers, veterans and defence people, and operates in a wide area of the UK midlands. The client is fast becoming a UK market leader for small waste carrier collection and safe disposal of difficult, hazardous, and specialist waste. The client operates a Total Waste Management division which offers pretty much a full-service solution from site visits and sampling to container supply and transportation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Drive a light truck or van and provide waste collection services to our customers.

Ensuring full compliance with all current regulations concerning the transportation of hazardous waste materials.
Delivery / Collection of waste materials to/from various locations around the UK.
A fair amount manual and admin work will be required and occasional yard/depot work.
Hours of work will be as and when required in order to complete your duties in accordance with the legal requirements for a LCV driver with a minimum of 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
A few nights out per week may be required.
Full compliance with high standards of health and safety regulations always including PPE.
Complete all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
Ensuring the daily walkaround safety inspection is completed, the results recorded, and any defects reported to the operations manager.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in any vehicle used, taking care of all equipment given
The role as a van driver does involve manual handling and lifting. It can be physically demanding work with occasional long days, and you need to be driven and able to think on your feet. This job role results in a varied and interesting occupation with no two days being the same. You need to in good physical health and have a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
About You

·       3 Years Driving Experience (Required)

·       Ex Forces within the last 4 years (Preferred)

Being punctual.
Having excellent driving skills. (Required)
Being reliable and trustworthy.
Having good concentration.
Having good communication skills.
Being able to work under pressure.
Having awareness of safety procedures for goods´ loading and unloading processes. (Preferred)
Being able to meet deadlines and get the job done in reasonable time.
Basic vehicle maintenance and mechanical skills (Preferred)
Conducting yourself professionally and taking ownership
An ability to problem-solve and find solutions
Being well-organised
Logistical experience and the ability to get involved in operations planning will be of great advantage to you.
