Technical all-round craftsman (59761) – Paderborn (Germany) – c £35,000 + benefits
Permanent & full-time role
The all-round craftsman works as part of the German client-side team in Paderborn and is responsible for carrying out repair and maintenance work as part of the service contract with the British military.
You will work with a team of commercial and technical colleagues as well as external suppliers to ensure effective and compliant performance of our contract. This leads to interfaces between residents, employees/representatives of the DIO (British military) and client employees.
The job holder must have good organizational skills to plan, coordinate, and execute work, and must be able to identify and meet strict compliance and performance requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Carrying out all necessary and preventive repair and maintenance tasks in the field of building maintenance
General minor renovation work (repairs, painting, floor coverings)
Ensuring that all work complies with the customer’s standards, policies, procedures and expectations
Compliance with applicable occupational health and safety laws and guidelines
Responsibility for health and safety
Reporting obvious deficiencies in the work systems or equipment provided that may result in failure to provide services or endanger health and safety or the environment
Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with the training
Specification of Person
Completed training in the technical/craft field (or comparable e.g. the British equivalent of the City and Guilds or a comparable NVQ qualification)
Proof of at least three years’ professional experience as a qualified craftsman and/or the equivalent UK qualification of the City and Guilds/NVQ as a mechanic (at least Level 2)
Previous experience working in a maintenance environment with high customer service requirements
Good skills and knowledge in technical areas, for carrying out maintenance tasks and repairs, among other things in the field of heating and sanitation, electrical engineering, construction elements
High level of customer orientation, good manners and a clean way of working
Experience in dealing with emergencies
Knowledge of the Hazardous Substances Ordinance
Experience working at height and in confined spaces
Assessment of required work, complete troubleshooting and execution of the corresponding repair work
Basic Computer Knowledge for Portable Digital Devices
Ability to work unsupervised and independently
High sense of responsibility
Solid knowledge of the English language
