- Cyber security: From training programmes to protective software, we help safeguard the UK against evolving cyber threats.
- Surface and sub-surface fleets: The UK relies on our advanced maritime technology for the safe navigation and management of complex surface and subsurface platforms.
- Aviation systems: We provide maintenance, logistics, and training services for aviation platforms across the British Armed Forces.
- Electronic warfare systems: We design and produce electronic warfare systems such as the AN/ALQ-218 receiver system for the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft.
- Unmanned systems: Northrop Grumman is at the forefront of unmanned aerial systems. Our advanced UAVs like the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance drone offer new capabilities to UK defence.
UK Veterans and Reservists at Northrop Grumman UK
Northrop Grumman has a long history of supporting the UK military. We proudly employ veterans across our organisation, acknowledging the unique skills and experience they bring to work every day.
Globally approximately 20 percent of Northrop Grumman’s employees are veterans including more than 1,600 reservists. Over 50 veterans are employed by Northrop Grumman UK and we have partnerships with numerous organisations that specifically support service leavers with their job search or upskilling.
We are proudly a Top 100 Great British Employer of Veterans, holding a Silver Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. This recognises our continued commitment to supporting veterans and the wider service community under the UK Armed Forces Covenant.
Our mission focus at Northrop Grumman allows veterans to contribute and integrate from the moment they join our team, continuing to engage in defence and security while moving into their second career.
Our programmers, engineers, data scientists, manufacturers, and project managers work together across our specialist sites in the UK to develop and deploy pioneering, next-generation technologies. Together, we are transforming the defence and national security capabilities for the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, British Army and wider UK Government. Our work is critical to the future safety and prosperity of the UK.
Our leadership
“We want your experience at Northrop Grumman to be the best it can be, with exposure to stimulating work alongside training and development that will help you to shape your career. When I joined Northrop Grumman, I found an extremely friendly, inclusive and collaborative organisation. Together, we work to make the UK safer through both our Defence and Cyber & Intelligence businesses.
“You’ll have the opportunity to explore the latest technologies and overcome some of the most complex engineering challenges in the world. It’s not all about the work we do, but how we maintain our great culture. I particularly love what we stand for here and our values define how we work together and deliver for our customers.
“Be sure to check out our Employee Resource Groups and our STEM outreach activities, and get involved wherever you can. You may be surprised as to where these opportunities can lead you and the people that you will meet along the way.”
Katharine Sealy | Managing Director of National Security Solutions | Northrop Grumman UK
Support for Service Leavers
We hold informal discussions regarding service leavers’ experience, potential and suitable roles they could be matched to with support, instead of the traditional recruitment route which can overlook critical transferable skills.
Hybrid and remote working options are available from day one at Northrop Grumman. Employees can apply for a compressed fortnight working pattern, which about 60% of employees have already moved to giving them every other Friday off.
We provide reservists with up to ten days of special paid leave to attend training as well as protected benefits during deployment.
Navigators is Northrop Grumman UK’s buddy initiative designed to support new starters who are service leavers by connecting them with fellow veterans and reservists, aiding their transition as they join us.
Veterans, Employees and Reservists Inspired to Act and Serve (VERITAS) is our employee resource group (ERG) committed to recognising and supporting the Armed Forces community in the US. We are extending this ERG to the UK to offer further support to our veteran employees.
Employee benefits
As an integral part of the team, you’ll receive professional development and a comprehensive benefits package.
