How to Sign Up with ELCAS Funding

Using your ELCAS funding to join our Level 4 Sports Massage course is simple. Just follow the steps below to submit your claim, secure your place, and get started. We’ll guide you through the process and make sure everything runs smoothly – from your initial application to the start of your training.

Step 1: Visit the ELCAS Website

Start by heading to www.enhancedlearningcredits.com, the official ELCAS portal. From there, you can search for approved providers and eligible courses.

Step 2: Submit Your Claim to ELCAS

Submit Your Claim to ELCAS

To apply for funding, complete Form ELC 005 and submit it through your education staff or line manager for approval. This form is available via the ELCAS website and must be completed before your training begins.

When filling out the form, be sure to include the following details:

  • Course title: Focus Awards Level 4 Diploma in Massage Therapy for Sports (RQF)
  • Format: Hybrid – 2-day Part 1 + 3-day Part 2
  • Provider name: Breeze Academy
  • Provider ID: 13381

Once submitted, your claim will be reviewed by ELCAS. If approved, you’ll receive your Claim Authorisation Note (CAN), which you’ll need to move forward with booking.

Once your claim has been reviewed and approved by ELCAS, you’ll receive a Claim Authorisation Note (CAN). This document confirms that your funding is in place and must be sent to us before we can formally book your place on the course.

Your CAN will include important details such as your personal ELCAS number, the amount of funding approved, and the course information.

Once you have your CAN, simply fill out our short application form to get started. You’ll be asked to upload your CAN and provide a few basic details so we can match your funding to your course booking.

As soon as we receive your completed form and CAN, we’ll reserve your place on the course and send you everything you need to get started, including access to the online learning platform and upcoming course dates.

Step 5: Pay Your Contribution

ELCAS will cover up to 80% of your course fee. The remaining is your personal contribution, which is required as part of the funding agreement.

Once we’ve received and verified your CAN, we’ll send you a secure payment link to settle your contribution. This confirms your enrolment and unlocks full access to the course materials.

Step-by-Step: Using Your ELCAS Funding

This course has a notional workload of 353 hours and is designed to be flexible, allowing you to learn and practise at your own pace. We’ve structured it into two clear parts, with time in between for reflection, practice, and deeper learning.

PART 1: 2-DAY WORKSHOP

Part 1: Building Core Skills

Part 1 is a two-day practical workshop that introduces you to the foundations of clinical sports massage. You’ll cover key skills such as posture assessment, functional movement testing, and client communication — all essential for safe, effective treatment. You’ll also learn core massage techniques and how to apply them to real musculoskeletal cases. With expert tutor support throughout, you’ll start building the confidence to assess and treat clients in a variety of settings.

BREAK: 1+ MONTH

Self-Directed Study Period

After Part 1, you’ll have a one-month break to consolidate your learning. During this time, you’ll complete online modules, practise your hands-on skills with real clients, and work through knowledge checks to reinforce key concepts. You’ll also take time for structured reflection, helping you develop clinical reasoning and prepare for the more advanced techniques covered in Part 2.

PART 2: 3-DAY WORKSHOP

Self-Directed Study Period

After Part 1, you’ll have a one-month break to consolidate your learning. What should I bring with me to the practical workshop?

Don’t worry about bringing any equipment — we’ve got everything covered for you. Just come in loose, comfortable clothing, and bring along a pair of shorts and a large towel.

All our venues have Wi-Fi, so you’ll be all set to dive into the practical sessions and make the most of your time.

Will we be practising massage from the start?

You’ll start massaging right away. The practical part of the course begins immediately in the workshop, focusing first on mastering the foundational techniques before progressing to more advanced methods.

With our structured, step-by-step approach, you’ll build confidence, refine your skills, and receive plenty of expert guidance throughout. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be fully equipped to integrate sports massage into your practice with confidence and competence.

How will I be assessed during the course?

Assessment is designed to be supportive and help you build confidence as you progress through the course.

Pre-course:
You’ll begin with online multiple-choice quizzes to test your understanding of anatomy, physiology, and key principles before attending the practical workshops.

During the workshop:
You’ll complete practical demonstrations across the five-day training, showing your ability to assess, treat, and adapt massage techniques for a range of clinical scenarios. You’ll also take part in scenario-based tasks, present your clinical reasoning to tutors, and receive structured feedback.

Post-workshop:
You’ll complete written case studies, treatment plans, and a short online quiz for each case. These tasks are designed to reinforce your learning and prepare you for real-world practice. You’ll have time to complete them and the option to resubmit if needed.

Assessments are clear, structured, and focused on helping you succeed, not catch you out.

What happens if I fail an assessment?

We understand that assessments can feel a bit intimidating, but rest assured, you won’t be unprepared. Throughout the course, you’ll gain plenty of hands-on practice and receive constructive feedback to help you build confidence and refine your technique. If any areas need more attention, we’ll identify them early on and provide the support you need to improve during the workshop.

On the day of the practical assessment, if you don’t quite meet the required standard, we’ll have a clear conversation about your next steps. We’ll discuss what additional support or learning might be needed before you can complete the qualification. Our goal is always to give you the best opportunity to succeed, with clear expectations, a supportive environment, and tutors who are genuinely invested in helping you feel confident and capable in your practice.

When will I receive my certificate?

Once you’ve completed both Part 1 and Part 2 of the practical workshops, submitted all required online assessments, and paid your course fees in full, your certificate will be automatically generated and ready for immediate download from your learner portal.

What conditions can I treat after completing the course?

Upon completing this Level 4 course, you’ll be equipped to treat a wide range of pre-diagnosed musculoskeletal injuries and dysfunctions affecting the upper and lower limbs, as well as the spine. This includes soft tissue injuries, overuse conditions, and common postural or movement-related dysfunctions.

You’ll be able to apply advanced massage techniques, Muscle Energy Techniques (METs), and Passive Assisted Stretching to support injury management, promote recovery, and enhance function.

You’ll also be qualified to deliver effective pre-event, post-event, and maintenance treatments tailored to individual needs, whether your clients are athletes, active individuals, or those recovering from injury.
