Christy has worked in the education sector for over 25 years and has held Senior Management and Executive roles in both the private and public sector.  Her career started in further education and was focussed on programme design for the National Oil Corporation (Libya) and since spans working with  international and domestics universities leading on strategy, student experience, success and more specifically employability.
Aside from this Christy holds advisor roles for Firstgens – an organisation that supports those who are first in their family to go to university.  As an advisor here she is supporting the strategic development and growth of the business.
Christy’s passion for supporting veterans came from her father who was an ex sailor, and more recently due to her own partner who is a service leaver, and served 22 years.   She has seen first hand many times how difficult it is to transition into civilian life, and how this often affects the wider family too.
Christy in her role as ambassador wants to support those who are considering education whether as a service leaver or a family member.  She is happy to meet and discuss options, the process of getting into university and also help those who may want to work in the sector with developing their profile or just generally help with preparing for a job.

Sam Beevor is a strategic, values-driven leader transitioning from a 24-year Army career, the pinnacle of which was commanding a battalion, completed earlier this year. He is now preparing to leave the military by February 2026, exploring private-sector roles where he can deliver meaningful, supportive, values-led impact.

Sam’s background spans leading large organisations, improving culture and retention, and bringing data and practical innovation to decision-making. He has made the most of the Army Skills Offer, and recognises how fortunate that makes him: he’s taking forward credible skills, qualifications and experience that open real opportunity. As an Ambassador for the Forces Transition Group, Sam is passionate about giving service leavers the confidence and mindset to start well. He believes FTG’s events and community are a genuine accelerator: John and the team have built a surrogate network you can adopt from day one, because the network is everything. Their cultivation of a credible, veteran-positive ecosystem is deeply impressive, and it lets you plug straight into a community that sees, values and champions your potential. Anthony Muers

Project Manager

Anthony Muers | Click to read more

After 28 years in the Royal Signals, I transitioned into a Project Manager role within the UK construction and energy sector. Throughout my military career, I held a range of positions from Signaller to Major, working in Operational and Training environments, including multiple deployments to Kosovo, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.

My experience centred on leading diverse teams, delivering telecommunications and Electronic Counter Measures solutions and training activities, whilst developing leadership skills that translate directly into project management. Since leaving, I’ve applied those fundamentals within major infrastructure projects, supporting delivery on National Grid programmes and adapting to the commercial and technical demands of the industry.

I understand that moving from the military into project management can feel uncertain, particularly when translating experience and navigating a new sector. I’m keen to support Service Leavers by sharing honest insights; what transfers well, where the gaps are, and how to position yourself effectively for roles in construction and infrastructure.

If you’re considering a move into project management, I’m happy to have a conversation and help you think it through.

Howard Clark

Transition Career Advisor

Howard Clark | Click to read more

Howard Clark is transitioning from a 34-year Royal Navy career (Regular and Full-Time Reservist) as a strategic, values-driven, and inclusive leader. His military service culminated in directing a specialized international maritime unit, delivering sovereign capacity and capability development on a global scale. Managing a £1.2m annual budget, he deliberately engineered operations to minimize direct costs while maximizing downstream strategic and commercial returns. Howard is now preparing to leave the military by April 2026, exploring public and private-sector roles where he can secure a fulfilling career and deliver meaningful, transformative, and values-led impact.

“Transition is a total recalibration of identity. I’ve lived the full spectrum: from the shock of a short-notice departure to the mental exhaustion of recalling decades of service and translating those achievements into a ‘civilian speak’ that truly reflects their value. It is a mental battle; one that often triggers imposter syndrome and makes you question where you fit in a world that speaks a different language.
Reflecting on my own journey, I’ve come to realize the vital difference between resettlement and transition. For a time, I was a ‘passive sleepwalker,’ waiting for the resettlement process—’the system’—to weave its magic, only to realize that the system isn’t designed to find your future; you are. I should have taken absolute ownership much earlier, utilizing every support mechanism available to shape the ‘future me’ while still in uniform.
Success requires becoming an ‘active hunter.’ This means moving beyond just scrolling through job boards to build and utilize a genuine professional network. Whether that involves mastering LinkedIn, navigating company websites, or making your presence felt at FTG Live Events and employment fairs, it is about direct contact and being active in the room.
I’ve learned that a ‘no’ isn’t a dead end; it’s a data point. I’ve made mistakes and lived the grind of managing rejections and using them to refine my pitch. I am a product of the FTG process, and I’ve stocked my toolbox with their tools and guides to find my path.
I wanted to become an FTG Ambassador because I want to give back to the community that provided me with my own roadmap. I am here to listen, to support, and to share my experiences and realizations. I’m here to help you take ownership, navigate the jargon, and attack the civilian market with the same focus and dedication you gave to your service. You have served well; don’t just leave the military—launch your next career and flourish.
Hope this fits the bill and look forward to fulfilling this amazing opportunity to promote the fantastic FTG and support the Service Leave, Veteran and Blue Light community.”
