Team Manager (Veterans Welfare Group)
The Company
The Veterans Welfare Group offers independent in-house support and signposting for veterans and members of the Armed Forces community. Our team, many of whom have lived experience within the MOD and Armed Forces, provide guidance on financial, legal, medical, and emotional matters for individuals affected by injury or going through medical discharge.
We employ a range of ex-MOD personnel, welfare advisors, medical experts, and administrative staff dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces community with skilled, compassionate guidance.
The Role
Due to continued business growth, the Veterans Welfare Group at UKExpertGroup is seeking an assured, proactive, and self-motivated Team Manager to join our expanding department.
We are looking for a driven individual who can share lived experience of the Armed Forces and Veterans Community, either having served themselves or having been part of an Armed Forces family.
They should have a passion for providing peer support, guidance, and identifying areas where further professional advice may be needed before, during, and after medical discharge or downgrade.
Working alongside the team, you will play a key role in:
- Onboarding and logging new client instructions and queries
- Allocating cases to the appropriate case managers
- Ensuring case reviews are completed thoroughly and actions carried out in a timely manner
- Supporting the Head of Department with operational tasks and weekly/monthly performance statistics
- Coordinating workloads to improve efficiency in dealing with queries and contributing to monthly targets
- Providing high-quality client care and upholding excellent customer service standards
- Arranging and coordinating team meetings while keeping the team up to date with relevant MOD policies
- Attending key events for the business where required
- Upholding excellent customer service standards
A core focus of this role is ensuring the department operates smoothly and efficiently while offering a level of support that goes above and beyond for the Armed Forces community and clients we serve.
The Candidate Must Be Able to Demonstrate the Following
- Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate and support team members
- Excellent organisational skills and confidence in delegating tasks
- A high level of professionalism and client care
- The ability to make prompt, confident decisions
- Enthusiasm for working towards targets set by senior management
- Strong communication skills and confidence in working with both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience or understanding of the Armed Forces community
- Experience of project management
- Preferred knowledge or understanding of the medico-legal sector
Key Responsibilities
- Departmental monthly review and analysis
- Management of all report instructions delegation to team members
- Induction of new team members
- Training of existing team members
- Liaising with other armed forces support organisations
- Delegating tasks and cases effectively to ensure the business meets its targets
- Completion of monthly one-to-one meetings with the team
- Problem solving
- Attend conferences and events around the UK
