Learner Driving Centres (LDC) is a family run business set up in 1987 and currently operates a nationwide network of around 400 LDC driving schools from our ultra modern training centre in Pontefract West Yorkshire. Paul McArdle is the Founder and Managing Director of the Company, pictured here surrounded by the Head Office team. In 1991 the LDC driving school franchise was acquired by Teaching Driving Limited (now named LDC Driving Schools Limited) who continue to offer the franchise and an agent booking service to its members.

Become a driving instructor with Learner Driving Centre (LDC) and join our team of independent LDC driving instructors. We have over 35 years experience of successfully training and supporting new driving instructors. Literally, thousands have qualified with LDC The average price for a driving lesson is around £40 an hour, with our highest rate being £50 per hour.

While pay is very important, the biggest reward comes from knowing that what you are doing is more than just a job – you are doing something which helps enrich people’s lives and adds to their safety and security. The smile from a learner who has just passed their test or mastered a skill provides the ultimate in job satisfaction.

To do this job you need to:

  • be patient and have good people skills
  • have a desire to run your own business
  • truly enjoy helping other people to achieve their learning goals
  • take pride in your own driving
  • pass the 3 parts of the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) examination
  • undertake a DBS security check and register with the DVSA to go on to the ADI Register
  • have held your driving licence for at least 3 years
  • have no more than 5 points on your licence.
