On-Site Electrician – Ministry of Justice (MoJ)

We have multiple permanent Electrician opportunities across the Midlands and surrounding areas, supporting His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS).

Roles are site‑based, with rotas discussed openly at interview to ensure suitability and reasonable commute times.
Working Pattern
- 39 hours per week
- Rota-based hours between 07:45 – 16:45
- 1 in 3/4 weekends (entitles you to an additional 15% shift allowance)
Salary is between £29,937 – £36,135 per annum, depending on experience.
The Role
You’ll carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a secure prison environment, helping to keep facilities safe, compliant and operational.
Key duties include:
- Fault-finding and repair of electrical systems
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Like‑for‑like replacements and minor works
- Electrical testing and inspections (BS7671)
- Supporting Health & Safety, risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Working as part of a close‑knit, professional team in a secure setting
What We’re Looking For
- City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition (or 17th with willingness to upskill)
- Strong Health & Safety awareness
- Experience working to procedures and compliance standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
- Fire alarm or CCTV knowledge
- Experience in secure, controlled or critical environments

Security Clearance
Prison Security Clearance is required; Amey will support you through this process.
