We’re recruiting an experienced Carpenter & Joiner to join the facilities maintenance team at HMP Manchester. This is a secure, permanent role on a long-term Ministry of Justice contract.
The Role
General carpentry and joinery maintenance
Repairs to doors, windows, formwork, signage and bespoke timber items
Running and maintaining the joinery workshop
Measuring jobs, quoting works and ordering materials
Managing workshop equipment, inspections and housekeeping
Hours & Working Pattern
39 hours per week
Rota-based:Saturday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00
Friday: 08:00–16:00
1 in 4 weekends (paid with 15% shift allowance)
What You’ll Need
NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (NVQ Level 2 considered with experience)
Maintenance or facilities experience
Confident with hand tools, ladders and workshop equipment
Reliable, organised and safety focused
