Sat–Thurs: 07:45 – 16:30
Friday: 07:45 – 15:30
1 in 4 weekends (rota) + 15% shift allowance
About the Role
We’re looking for a General Building Engineer to join our team at HMP Styal, supporting the safe and compliant running of the site.
This is a varied, hands-on role covering fire safety, compliance checks, and general maintenance across a secure site.
What You’ll Be Doing
Fire door maintenance
Fire extinguiser checks and servicing
Emergency lighting testing
RCD testing
Water temperature and flushing checks
CCTV and alarm system support
Checking smoke vents and misting units
General compliance and maintenance tasks
What We’re Looking For
Experience in fire doors, extinguishers, alarms, or emergency lighting
Experience with RCD testing and water checks
General building maintenance/compliance experience
Able to work safely in a regulated environment
Not essential to have everything — training can be provided.
