Building Surveyor – £50,000+ West London

Purpose of the Role

To provide property surveying services primarily across the Homecare Directorate, while also supporting the wider business as required.The role is responsible for identifying, inspecting, and providing solutions to property defects and maintenance issues across the housing stock. This includes preparing schedules of work and providing project management support for minor and major works where appropriate technical expertise is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

Inspect and assess repair requests and defects where technical investigation is required to determine the most appropriate remedial solution.
Investigate technical defects and cases of disrepair, including property inspections and the preparation of Housing Conditions Reports where necessary.
Provide technical support in relation to disrepair matters and legal claims.
Offer expert maintenance advice to support operational and business decisions, liaising with managers, supervisors, trade teams, subcontractors, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
Obtain quotations for repairs and specialist works in accordance with company financial procedures.
Provide technical approval for Disabled Facilities Grant applications and associated works, including progress inspections and post-completion checks.
Provide technical assistance regarding customer permissions and retrospective permission requests.
Support the Property Care Team with surveying requirements relating to planned maintenance programmes.

Essential

Experience within building maintenance, property surveying, or a similar construction-related environment.
Relevant Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or another construction-related discipline.
Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Commercially aware with a focus on achieving value for money.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems.
Full UK driving licence and access to transport, or the ability to travel efficiently between locations as required.

Desirable

Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Experience working within social housing, planned maintenance, repairs, or asset management environments.
