We’re looking for a skilled Workshop Mechanic to join our expert fleet maintenance team. If you take pride in high-quality workmanship, enjoy problem-solving, and want a role where your expertise truly matters, this is your opportunity.
As a Workshop Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and inspection of Serco commercial vehicles within our fleet maintenance facilities. All work will be carried out in line with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.
You’ll play a vital role in keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and reliable. This is a hands‑on position where your technical expertise will be used to carry out thorough inspections, diagnose and repair faults, and ensure vehicles fully meet DVSA standards.
What you’ll do as a Workshop Mechanic
In this role, you’ll be trusted to:
Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs across a range of commercial vehicles
Diagnose faults and deliver efficient, high-quality fixes
Work with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure all safety inspections are scheduled at least six months in advance, including statutory obligations
Perform brake testing and ensure DVSA compliance
Conduct road tests following repairs to confirm vehicles are safe and roadworthy
Maintain a clean, organised workshop environment to support safety and efficiency
Maintain accurate service and repair records
Does this sound like you?
You’ll be well‑suited to this role if you have:
Full industry‑recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair)
Experience maintaining large vehicle fleets
A valid Category C Driving Licence (or willing to obtain)
Experience working with specialist hydraulic systems
