We don’t have a specific skills criteria, however we do look for those who have prior experience working in an industry with transferable skills, and look for those with levels 2/3 in electrical, mechanical and hydraulics; as this is something employers particularly ask for.
Part of the governments life time guarantee Maersk Training are delivering skills bootcamps in partnership with Gateshead college and as part of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership consortium.

Prepare for Success in Wind Energy
Learners will also be given industry-specific careers advice to support their journey into the industry. Furthermore, Maersk Training will work with their network of employers to facilitate an interview with an employer at the end of the course.
Employers in the wind energy sector are quite specific about the prior technical experience of new entrants to the sector, so we suggest applicants for the course consider their technical/engineering experience prior to applying for a place on the course. Learners who have most rapidly progressed into employment as a wind turbine technician tend to have prior experience in either mechanical, hydraulic or electrical engineering. We’ve also seen success from learners who have experience in heavy industry, the military, emergency services, and construction.
We strongly recommend you reflect on your level of technical/industrial experience before applying for the course.
